Andreas Dengel is Executive Director at the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) Kaiserslautern and head of the research area Smart Data & Knowledge Services as well as the DFKI Deep Learning Competence Centre. His research focuses on machine learning, pattern recognition, quantified learning, data mining, semantic technologies and document analysis. Previously, he worked at IBM, Siemens and Xerox PARC in Palo Alto. Besides having published 14 books and more than 500 scientific publications, he is the founder of several start‑ups and Distinguished Honorary Professor at Osaka Prefecture University. He studied computer science and business administration at TU Kaiserslautern.
