Entrepreneur and investor / Experienced insurance CEO and board member. From 2006 until July 2019 Dr Michael Bitzer was the CEO of Daman, the National Health Insurance Company, a joint venture between the government of Abu Dhabi and Munich Re. During his time with Daman he also held the role of CEO of Munich Health Daman Holding, was a board member of Saudi Enaya and Daman Qatar, and was a member of the ERGO International Management Committee. Prior to joining Daman he held a number of senior positions for Munich Re in the Middle East and Germany, including responsibility for Munich Re’s health re‑insurance and primary health‑insurance business in the Middle East and Africa. Michael studied medicine and business administration in Germany. He worked in German army hospitals, clinics and held various general staff functions within the army for 16 years. Following his time in the army, he also spent a couple of years in the pharmaceutical industry and consulting.
